You may post FREE personal belongings available for pick up in Brampton, Ontario or the greater Brampton area. Please include a product description, photo if available, indicate item is free, price at $0; and specify area, intersection location.
IMPORTANT: Restrictions are listed in our Group Rules and Posting Guidelines. You may be notified if item, post or comment is disallowed or removed.
Acceptable items include tangible FREE goods for redistribution: reuse, repurposing, repair, or recycling / scrap.
To help ensure food security, provide food relief, and reduce food waste, food is generally allowed as a donation item, providing it is believed to be in edible, safe condition. This may include canned goods past their best before dates. Alternatively, to dispose of food, Peel accepts organic waste (green bin) at curbside. Visit Peel Waste to see what organics are accepted. To recycle food, we also encourage composting. Visit FoodPrint for composting tips.
All posts are moderated to keep FREE Stuff Brampton free of scams and spam, to maintain post quality, and to help keep community members safe.
In general, as long as an item is tangible, free and in decent condition for its purpose or repurpose, not associated with any issues (e.g. a recall), not a group disallowed item or against Meta's Commerce Policies; relevant information was included, and pickup is in Brampton (or other allowed area), it will be accepted for publication. Please note that Brampton pickups take priority over other locations. If pickup location is NOT Brampton, we can not guarantee ad acceptance.
We recommend posting your item ahead of desired pickup time to allow for post processing time.
Your post can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours to be published. However, if your post is NOT published within a few hours of submission, please check your private messages to see if Admin has requested additional information. Failing to provide necessary post details can significantly delay or disqualify your post request.
If you were asked to edit your post, please do so as soon as possible. Posts not accepted are returned with an explanation. You should normally receive a Facebook notification if your post was returned.
If your freebie item required additional research, for example, to check for product or safety information, recalls or prohibited content, then publication of your post could be delayed until Admin has determined if item is acceptable by our and Facebook's standards. If your ad is accepted and published, Admin may post additional information in comments for potential donatees to read.
If you have any questions at anytime, please contact us.

The main objective of FREE Stuff Brampton is to support individual community members; independently, fairly and equally. As such, we generally discourage promoting collection for (other) charities, except when items are unable to be redistributed to other community members within a reasonable amount of time. Please see Posting Guidelines, Guideline 6.
Participating in FREE Stuff Brampton for the main purpose of collecting for charity as-is redistribution is mostly prohibited. Please see Group Rules, Rule 5.
YES: Click "Direct Link" or photo to access ad and contact donator via private message.
NO: Click on "Comment" under post to leave a public message for donator, or click "Message" button (if available) to send a private message.
If you have any problems or questions, please see "Troubleshooting" below or contact Admin.
It is likely that the item listed is in the process of being picked up, or is no longer available. If an item is "Pending" it usually means it has been promised to someone who has scheduled a pickup. After the item is picked up, it should be marked as "Sold".
If the donator has received a lot of responses to their ad, they may not be able to contact everyone back. Due to how internet files are processed, data that has been deleted may still display for a short period.
If you believe there is another issue, please contact Admin to investigate. Thank you.
There could be a few different reasons for this Facebook error message, but the most common one is that the original ad was deleted. Sometimes an ad is deleted when an item has been picked up, instead of being marked "Sold", or the listing was a 'Discussion' post that was deleted.
As of May 3, 2022, ISO (in search of) posts are submitted instead to Brampton Belongings ISO group. Select posts are then shared by Admin to FREE Stuff Brampton for a limited time, but can remain at Brampton Belongings ISO longer. Please do not add photos of wanted items or use text backgrounds in your ad. Join the ISO group to post wanted items.
Please use your own personal discretion and exercise caution at all times when contacting anyone online. As a donatee of items, do not make any arrangements that make you uncomfortable, or accept any items you feel are unsafe. Contact Admin at anytime with any concerns. Please review our Safety Tips.

NEVER SEND A SCAMMER MONEY OR ACCEPT MONEY. If you are contacted by a scammer on Facebook, you can send Admin screenshots and the scammer's Facebook profile link, so the scammer can be blocked from the group. Admin routinely blocks spammers and scammers from FREE Stuff Brampton.
Make sure you also report the scammer to Facebook and block the scammer. To report a scam, you can contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. To report a fraud (Brampton), please contact Peel Regional Police, Fraud Dept. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are working to make it easier to report cybercrime.
Tip: Facebook spammers are confidence tricksters who often set up (sometimes multiple) fake profiles, use stolen photos and practise catfishing in order to gain confidence. Their profiles may not add up: Their sex may not match. They could appear to be from somewhere other than where they claim, and/or may show signs of being from a race inconsistent with their photos. They may appear to not be familiar with their supposed job and location; or use phrases and spelling that suggest they normally speak a different language or are from a different area.
If you have any additional questions, concerns, or need help at anytime, please contact Admin.
FREE Stuff Brampton is affiliated with the community organization, Evermore Giving Gardeners (established 2012); Brampton Belongings ISO group, and Brampton Thrift group(s).
