Community members explain why they like to give & get free personal belongings! Read comments.
Community members join FREE Stuff Brampton for various and a combination of reasons. Both donators and donatees care about the environment and what happens to products aftermarket.
Admin has identified common reasons for Brampton and area locals to give and get personal belongings. Can you relate to any?
"I am on disability and money is hard to come by. Saving things from a landfill gives once-loved items a second chance." ~M.R.

Are generous... They

"I am redecorating my home and have many items that I can donate to others, who will enjoy my things as I have." ~D.G.
FREE item posts may get both messages and/or comments! Free items for pickup stay listed on FREE Stuff Brampton group until (shortly after) they are marked as "sold". Before the item is picked up, there could be long waiting list to receive a popular item.
If you are looking for a specific item, we recommend posting a request to Brampton Belongings ISO. Your request should include only text with no backgrounds or photos. Select requests are posted to FREE Stuff Brampton for attention to gain more views. Please do not send your (in search of) ISO requests to FREE Stuff Brampton, as we no longer publish direct ISO posts, as per our Group Rules. Thank you!

We exist to assist and support individuals in our community. This includes individuals who wish to give personal belongings (donators), and those who wish to get personal belongings (donatees). As a donatee, you may collect items for yourself, family or household; or for another individual (e.g. a friend).
YES: We consider persons engaged in sole proprietorship self-employment (e.g. small scrap dealers), operating legitimate home businesses (e.g. crafters), and working as community professionals (e.g. teachers) to be individuals. These persons are largely exempt from our "stockpiling" clause.
NO: Collecting free items (i.e. as a charity business), to stockpile for immediate and especially random as-is redistribution to multiple clients or customers is disallowed.
*FREE Stuff Brampton is dedicated and committed to providing individual support directly and equally to all local community members.*
Typically, charities are dedicated to a specific cause and type of client. Not all community members are accepted as clients. Usually, community members must apply to the charity for assistance and often are vetted, required to provide significant personal information (i.e. to provide proof of "need"), and face other restrictions to obtaining help. Donations from the public to charities may also not directly assist clients; and tangible goods, if accepted, may be sold by the charity to cover their expenses.
*FREE Stuff Brampton bypasses charity red tape; saving time, preserving dignity, and eliminating barriers to assistance.*
We only recommend donating to (another) charity, to keep items out of landfill, if individual community members have not shown significant interest over time. Collecting for charity is generally against our Group Rules and Posting Guidelines (see excerpts below).
Guideline 6: Please be considerate. Any comments which could be deemed offensive, inappropriate or off-topic may be deleted without notice and at discretion of administrator. Note: "off-topic" includes promotional content relating to other businesses (incl charities) and groups (esp private) that have not been approved by Admin. In general, Free Stuff Brampton is for direct support of individual community members only. Accounts in obvious violation of this rule, risk being banned. Thank you for your compliance.
Group Rule 5: NO Conflict of Interest between group and members: Objective of FREE Stuff Brampton is to directly support individuals. We believe all community members (aka "the public") should have equal opportunity to acquire needed items for personal or home business use, and be able to do so without restrictions set by private or special interest groups, organizations. As such, participating for main purpose of immediate collection for as-is redistribution to clients is prohibited (see 'About' and FAQ's) and such conflict of interest risks account banning.
Exception: Charities who collect specific items on an individual basis only and for select clients, normally for a limited time or for recycling, can contact us to see if they can be accepted.
YES:  Charity examples we approved: winter coats for newcomers, prom dresses for students, milk bags to mats for the homeless.
At FREE Stuff Brampton, donators and donatees are equal community members. The relationship is give-and-take and interchangeable. Sometimes you are a donator; sometimes you are a donatee.
Most donators of free stuff are Marketplace sellers. Being a seller is the easiest way to post a freebie ad to the FREE Stuff Brampton group. (There is no charge to sell or donate items via Facebook.) Our "sellers" are individual community members who may have other freebies or personal belongings for sale.
"I am always looking for yarn. Every few months, I have clothes and other stuff to give away." ~B.F.
A freebie ad is considered a sale ad on Facebook Marketplace. For our FREE Stuff Brampton group, please price your item at $0.
To learn more about Facebook Marketplace, please read the article, "How to Sell on Facebook Marketplace? A Beginner's Guide". For more tips, please visit the "Selling on Marketplace" section at Facebook Help Center. Please be sure to follow Facebook Commerce Policies when placing your ad.
