What items do we not allow in our freebie ads? See below for a list of disallowed items.
Thank you kindly for sharing your free stuff and participating in FREE Stuff Brampton! We accept most, but not all, free items for donation.
The following personal belongings are disallowed for health and safety, legal or other reasons to be donated via our Facebook group freebie ads. If you have any questions at anytime, please see our FAQs and/or contact Admin.
If you submit a freebie ad post for a disallowed item, Admin will advise you (see Group Rules, Rule 2) and if possible and practical, offer you an alternative suggestion to offload your free item. Else, additional information may be requested to publish your ad.
Please familiarize yourself with this list. Submitting a disallowed item will not normally count against you as a Group Rule violation. However, resending a declined post multiple times, can result in a warning. Thank you for understanding.
Appliances in good repair, or large appliances for repair or scrap are allowed. Small appliances in poor repair, that could pose a hazard with use, are disallowed.
Cribs, baby gliders and walkers are disallowed. Please provide manufacturer, make/brand, and model number for all baby equipment, so we can check for recalls.
Baby supplies are generally allowed, with some exceptions. Breast pumps and infant formula are disallowed.
Alternative: Most food banks accept baby formula.
Box springs and most mattresses are disallowed. Foam mattresses and electric blankets may be allowed on a individual basis. Bed frames, bedding, headboards and footboards are allowed.
Anything deemed by Admin to be damaged beyond repair (unless for scrap) is disallowed. Admin will conduct research on damaged item to determine if it is feasible and practical to repair it.
Expired child car seats are disallowed. Other child car seats may be accepted. Include manufacturer, make/brand name, model number, expiry date; and state seat was not involved in a serious crash. Read article, "Car seat use after crash".
Unopened, unused cosmetics are generally allowed. Open cosmetics (i.e. makeup, hair products, nail polish) are disallowed.
Electrical goods or electronics not in good repair can be offered for scrap; else they are disallowed.
Some exercise equipment may be disallowed on an individual basis. Please provide manufacturer, make/brand name; and model number for most exercise equipment.
Outdoor firepits are disallowed. Indoor fireplaces, mantles, woodstoves and outdoor barbecues are allowed. Unsafe firewood (exception: green wood) is disallowed.
Most food is allowed. Food deemed possibly unsafe for consumption is disallowed; this could include potentially hazardous foods. Open grains (unless livestock feed) are disallowed.
Used footwear must be in safe condition. Footwear with uneven heels, sole holes, loose parts or damage that can cause tripping, falling or leaking are disallowed; unless for repair (if possible) or repurposing.
Furniture in decent state of repair is generally allowed, including furniture with cosmetic damage. Broken or unstable furniture is generally disallowed. Upholstered furniture, with significant stuffing damage or excessive peeling is disallowed. Furniture with missing functional or integral pieces, parts may be disallowed.
Alternatives: Badly damaged furniture can be left curbside for bulk garbage pickup or possibly donated to a furniture repair business.

FREE Stuff Brampton is a gun-free zone. Guns are disallowed.
Alternatives: To donate a gun, please contact Peel Regional Police or your local police department to ask if they will take it; or contact your lawyer or your National Firearms Association (Canada) for tips.
Bicycle, motorcycle, and other sporting and like helmets, or safety and construction helmets are disallowed.
Anything advertised for use in illegal activities is disallowed.
Any item missing any integral parts will be accessed by Admin, and could be disallowed.
Live animals are disallowed. Anything we consider harmful to pets, animals or wildlife is disallowed.
We prefer you post these instead to Evermore Giving Gardeners. Thank you!
Hazardous household waste, pest control chemicals, noxious substances and the like are generally disallowed.
Any toys under recall are disallowed. Damaged toys that could cause injury or pose a hazard are disallowed. Upon our discretion, other toys may be disallowed.
All treadmills are disallowed.
Anything currently prohibited by Meta's Commerce Policies is disallowed. (This is a dynamic list that may include a multitude of items at any given time.)
Motor vehicles for scrap or parts are disallowed.
Why: There are laws for disposing of registered motor vehicles in Ontario. Please read this Toronto article about scrap car removal laws.
Adult nutritional formula, ingestible supplements, protein powder and like products are disallowed.
Bladed weapons such as hunting, fishing and survival knives are disallowed. Kitchen knives and utensils are allowed, as are box cutters.
The above list is not exhaustive and is intended as a guideline only. Admin reserves the right to update our disallowed items list at anytime, to take effect immediately.
